Russia and Armenia are strategic partners and allies, Armenian
President Robert Kocharyan and Russian Federation Council Chairman
Sergei Mironov confirmed once more here on Saturday. Mironov is on an
official visit in Yerevan.

The speaker said his talk with the president was frank and open. They
discussed the whole range of issues related to Russian-Armenian
relations.

“We are ready for cooperation not only on the bilateral basis, not
only within the CIS, but also in other international organisations,”
Mironov said.

Russia and Armenia have a great potential for cooperation not used in
full so far, he noted.

Mironov and Kocharyan discussed the problem of transit of cargoes for
Armenia as the Russian-Georgian border is closed.

Possible ways to settle the problem were discussed with taking into
consideration the partnership relations with Armenia, the Russian
speaker said.
