CARD HELPS TASHIR FARMERS TO IMPROVE CATTLE HERD
   YEREVAN, APRIL 5, ARMENPRESS: The Center for Agribusiness and
Rural Development (CARD) that replaced the formerly active USDA
Marketing Assistance Project has launched a new program in Tashir
region of Lori province to improve the local herd of milk cows.
   CARD is supported by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).
As part of this project milk cows in the region will be inseminated
artificially together with a set of preventive veterinary measures.
   A veterinary clinic and a drugstore were established recently as
an affiliation of a local Elita milk consumers cooperative and
several cattle-growing farms were provided with Jersey semen brought
from the USA and the equipment necessary to carry out artificial
insemination.
