SCHOOL MEDAL TO HAVE NO SERIOUS ROLE WHEN ENTERING TO INSTITUTES OF
HIGHER EDUCATION

YEREVAN, MAY 12. ARMINFO. The school medal will have no serious
importance when entering to Armenia’s institutions of higher education
from 2005-2006 educational year, stated Minister for science and
education Sergo Yeritsyan at today’s press-conference.

In his words, medalists will be given preferences only when
determining priorities in choice of entrants having the equal
marks. Yeritsyan informed that both the order and the matter of
entrance examinations have not been changed this year.

Minister also informed that a partial change to the testing system of
entrance examination will by applied from 2006 and the full change to
knowledge testing – from 2007. In his opinion, this method corresponds
to plans of Armenian government in the change process to 12-year
secondary education system. Testing in Armenian universities will be
efficient for entering the universities of foreign countries signed
the Bologna agreement, too. Bologna agreement will come into force in
Armenia on May 19. Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Moldova also will
be entered to Bologna agreement this day. Of CIS countries only
Byelorussia is not going to join to the agreement.
