EXPULSION OF A.ISAHAKIAN CENTRAL LIBRARY’S BRANCH FROM TERRITORY
OCCUPIED BY IT FROM 1958 POSTPONED BY 10 DAYS

YEREVAN, MAY 16, NOYAN TAPAN. The expulsion of the technical literature
department of Central Library after A.Isahakian from the territory in
Tigran Mets street 30 fixed for May 13 was postponed by 10 days. Ara
Saghatelian, Press Executive of RA Ministry of Justice, informed Noyan
Tapan’s correspondent that this decision was made in consideration
of the time necessary for the registration, removal and warehousing
of nearly 50 thousand units of books of the library. To recap,
by the decision of Kentron Prefecture’s eldermen the territory at
the above-mentioned address was rented to the “Smela” CJSC for a
1-year term. On May 5, Yeghia Shamshian, “Smela” CJSC’s Director,
submitted the respective decision of the Prefecture to the library
director. According to Hasmik Karapetian, library’s Director,
the technical literature department has been functioning in this
territory for 50 years – starting from 1958. When by the government
decree community’s non-residential territories were transferred for
the Prefecture’s management in April 2004, the library administration
applied to Prefect Gagik Beglarian with a proposal about concluding
an agreement on transferring this territory to the library without
compensation and time-limit. The proposal received no answer. During
the meeting with Gagik Beglarian it was found out that the latter
didn’t know that there was a library in this territory. According
to H.Karapetian, the prefect confessed that Y.Shamshian misled him
saying that this territory isn’t used. It was also mentioned that the
prefect promised that a new eldermen’s decision about invalidating the
agreement will be made. But after all this, on May 12, the officials of
RA Justice Ministry’s Obligatory Execution of Judicial Acts submitted
Hasmik Karapetian the decision about obligatory expulsion from the
territory.
