Human Rights Defender Larissa Alaverdyan was shocked by the results
of the January survey organized by the Peace Initiatives Caucasus
Center. Asked the question “Are you aware that in Armenia there is an
Institute of the Defender of Human Rights?” 42.5% of the participants
of the survey answered “Yes”.

“I wonder if the numbers can be trusted as the opinion about the Human
Rights Defender is too good”, complained Larissa Alaverdyan during
the representation of the “Democratic Reforms Monitoring in Armenia”.

She aware that, for example, in France during the 25 years of
existence of the Ombudsman Institute only 10% of people is aware of
its existence. And Larissa Alaverdyan doubts the 42.5%. “I think a
lower percentage would be more correct”, said the RA Ombudsman.
