Azerbaijan concerned at Russian arms redeployment to Armenia

Baku, 19 May: Azerbaijan condemns any case of handover of arms to
Armenia, the press service of the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry has
said commenting on the statement of the chief of the Russian General
Staff, Army Gen Yuriy Baluyevskiy, that Russian military bases will
be relocated from Georgia to Russia and that part of their military
hardware will be stationed in Armenia.

“We condemn such steps. Any case of stationing of arms cause our
concern,” the Defence Ministry said. The minister added that the
Azerbaijani side did not approve of redeployment of military hardware
to Armenia, which is at war with Azerbaijan.

Baluyevskiy said that the redeployment of part of the military
hardware and property to Armenia would allow Russia to withdraw bases
from Georgia within four years.
