Iran appoints new envoy to Ireland

TEHRAN

Iran has appointed Hamid Reza Nikkar as its new ambassador to Dublin,
it was announced here on Monday [23 May].

The appointment was made upon the proposal of Foreign Minister Kamal
Kharrazi and approval of President Mohammad Khatami.

According to the Foreign Ministry’s Press and Information Department,
Nikkar had earlier served as director-general for assets, buildings
and logistics, Iran’s ambassador to Armenia, deputy foreign minister
and mayor of Esfahan.
