New President Named at Los Angeles City College

LOS ANGELES

Following a national search, a three-time college president was named
today to head Los Angeles City College. Steve Maradian, who is
currently vice president for government relations at the American
University of Armenia, will take over as LACC’s president on Aug. 1.
Maradian is a past president of three colleges: Middle Georgia, Lamar
College in Orange, Texas, and Belmont Technical College in Ohio. He
also formerly was executive director of the Regional Maritime
Technology Center at the University of New Orleans and director of
federal relations for the University System of Georgia. A search
committee of community members and college staff interviewed a number
of candidates for the post. The four finalists participated in
community forums on June 27 and 28, and the Board of Trustees made
the final decision.
