Armenian minister, Swedish official discuss developing cooperation

Yerevan, 12 August: Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan today
met members of a delegation led by Swedish State Secretary Lars
Danielsson Gunnar. The delegation arrived in Yerevan within the
framework of a regional tour.

The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told Arminfo that
during the meeting, the sides noted the need for the further
development of Armenian-Swedish relations and the importance of
exchanging visits in this context. The Armenian foreign minister noted
the importance of Swedish assistance in the issue of securing
Armenia’s further involvement in the EU’s New Neighbourhood Policy. He
highlighted the success of technical programmes implemented in Armenia
since 1995 with the sponsorship of the Swiss International Development
Agency (SIDA) [name as published].

Talking about the process of settling the Nagornyy Karabakh conflict,
Lars Gunnar pointed out that his country wants to see the region
without conflicts as soon as possible. He also stressed his country’s
readiness to render political and economic assistance to the parties
with the aim of reaching an agreement on the settlement of the
conflict.

At the guest’s request, the Armenian foreign minister presented
programmes of cooperation between Armenia and the EU and NATO, as well
as issues related to Armenian-Turkish relations.
