Darchinyan keeps flyweight crown
Vic Darchinyan lands a right cross on the chin of Jair Jiminez
Australia’s Vic Darchinyan retained his IBF flyweight title with a
fifth-round stoppage of Jair Jiminez at the Sydney Entertainment
Center on Wednesday.
Darchinyan sent Jiminez to the canvas early in the fourth and
pummelled the Colombian for the rest of the round.
At the time of the stoppage, Darchinyan led by five points on two
judges’ cards and six points on the other.
Armenian-born Darchinyan was making the second defence of the title
he won from Irene Pacheco last December.
