Henk Wisman has resigned as coach of FC Pyunik and the Armenian
national team after failing to negotiate new contracts with his
two employers.

Wisman’s record

The 48-year-old Dutchman took charge of the national side in 2005 but
the Football Federation of Armenia was not sufficiently impressed by
his record of three wins, one draw and five defeats to offer him the
terms he wanted. Armenia finished second from bottom of their 2006 FIFA
World Cup qualifying group thanks to two victories against Andorra.

Pyunik decision

Meanwhile, new Pyunik president Karen Harutyunyan – who took over from
Khoren Hovhannisyan last month – also decided against extending his
contract with Wisman, who led the Yerevan club to the league title
in 2005. Armenia Under-21 coach Samvel Petrosyan has been handed
Wisman’s Pyunik responsibilities.
