ARA ABRAHAMIAN HAS QUITE CRITICAL VIEW OF HIS DEEDS, UNLIKE OUR AUTHORITIES

“The Union of Armenians of Russia and the World Armenian Congress of
can’t settle complicated political and economic issues and will make
no progress without collaboration with the Armenian authorities. There
is certain positive development in the relations with the Armenian
authorities, but I should state with regret that some of the Armenian
officials do not notice us. Everyone can see our activities. I want
to draw attention on self-criticism and dwell on the drawbacks,”
Ara Abrahamian, chairman of the World Armenian Congress and the Union
of Armenians of Russia, said at WAC sitting at the Armenia-Marriott
Hotel May 16.
The participants of the congress touched upon the issues of opening
representative bodies of the Western-Armenian unions, as well as
the implementation of “The Days of the World Congress of Armenians
and the Union of Armenians of Russia in Armenia and Artsakh” project,
organization of “Armenia-Diaspora” third congress and other issues. RA
Foreign minister Vartan Oskanian, NKR foreign minister Anushavan
Danielian, as well as many representatives of political and cultural
spheres were present at the sitting.
“This congress is a new phenomenon in the context of developing new
events and overcomes all the challenges that the Armenian people
faces. I highly appreciate the activities that are carried out under
the leadership of Ara Abrahamian,” Yervand Azatian, political and
public figure, literature critic, said.
Mihran Dabag, head of the Center for the Armenian Studies at
Bohum University, stated the importance of the fact that different
representatives of the Armenian organizations have gathered in Armenia.
Ruben Mirzakhanian, chairman of Tekeyan Cultural Union, stated that
many documents testify to the activities of the Congress, while the
deeds of this organization say more. He added that the activities of
the Union of the Armenians of Russia prove that the World Armenian
Congress will develop and unite the goals and activities of the
Armenian organizations of Diaspora. “We know that about 500 Armenian
organizations used to function in Russia. Being quite respectful of
their activities, I should state nothing united them and their common
deed was harmed. Ara Abrahamian managed to settle that issue and this
fact gave hope that he will also mange to solve all the issues put
forward in front of the Congress,” Mirzakhanian stated.
