NKR NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SPEAKER AND NKR FOREIGN MINISTER PRESENT TO
MATTHEW BRYZA NKR’S POSSITION CONCERNING KARABAKH SETTLEMENT PROCESS
WASHINGTON, JUNE 30, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. On June 26, within
the framework of the working visit to the United States of America
Chairman of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic National Assembly Ashot
Ghoulian and NKR Foreign Minister Georgy Petrossian arrived in
Washington.
The same day the NKR officials met with Ambassador of the RA to the
USA Tatoul Margarian. At the meeting the issues of mutual interest
were discussed.
Later Ashot Ghoulian and Georgy Petrossian had a meeting at the NKR
Permanent Representative office in the USA with the OSCE Minsk Group
Co-Chairman Mathew Braise. The meeting participants discussed current
state of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement and regional
development. The NKR Parliament Speaker and Foreign Minister
introduced the position of Nagorno Karabakh concerning the Karabakh
settlement process and stressed the importance of the legal side of
the problem. The meeting participants agreed upon the continuation of
the consultations in Stepanakert.
On June 27, the NKR delegation met with the leadership of the Armenian
organizations, in particular, Washington office of ‘Haydat’ and
Armenian Assembly of America. In the course of the meetings the issues
related to expansion and intensification of cooperation between those
organizations and the NKR authorities, strengthening of the relations
of the Homeland and the Diaspora, as well as the current situation in
the region were discussed.
According to the NKR MFA press service, then the NKR officials had a
meeting with Chairman of the German Fund of Marshall Craig Kennedy at
which the course of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement and
directions of the NKR internal and foreign policy were discussed.
On the second half of the day Ashot Ghoulian and Georgy Petrossian met
with Senators Lincoln Chaffy and Jack Reed at the USA Senate. During
the conversation the NKR officials introduced the social-economic
situation in Artsakh, progress in democracy development and the recent
events in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement. The NKR
Parliament Speaker and Foreign Minister stressed the significance of
assistance rendered to Artsakh by the USA and urged to continue the
assistance and to expand its limits.
