NA deputy Shavarsh Kocharyan told a seminar on opportunities opened
up for youth by European integration processes that youth does not
play active role, trying to be away from politics. He explained
that many international programs help young people to leave Armenia
and they never come back. In his words, the Armenian youth has a
significantly different mentality. Being born under authoritarian
regime where there are no fair rules of the game, they try to be
flexible to survive. Referring to Freedom House statistics data,
however, Kocharyan said that Armenia is moving away from authoritarian
indicators unlike Georgia and Azerbaijan. Concurrently, he said Armenia
is still considered a semi-established one-man state./Panorama.am/

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
