PROTEST RALLY IN AKHALKALAKI AGAINST LOCAL OPPOSITION LEADER’S ARREST
IN ARMENIA
Today, a protest rally was held on the Square of Liberty in
Akhalkalaki (Georgia) against Vahagn Chakhalyan’s arrest in Yerevan,
October 11. Chakhalyan is one of the presidium members of the "United
Javakhq" Democratic Bloc.
Javakhq-Info says that the population of the nearby villages
participated in the rally. The demonstrators expressed indignation at
the absurd charge instituted against Chakhalyan for trespassing the
Georgian-Armenian border, and claimed his immediate release.
At the end of the rally, the demonstrators made a statement that they
will take more rigid measures if their claims are disregarded.
