The RA Government decided to change the Soviet system of addressed
in 2005. According to deputy mayor of Yerevan Kamo Areyan, the new
system will be implemented in about a year and a half. The addresses
of houses, institutions and other objects will be changed.

As for what language will be used for the signboards alongside with
Armenian, Mr. Areyan is not sure yet.

He informed that the authorized body giving addressed is Yerevan mayor
Yervand Zakharyan. "The mayor has five days to grant and address or
to reject it", he said.

According to the Government decision, no organization or local
governing body will be able to avoid the city plan of addressed. As for
how much money will be invested for the realization of the program, Mr.

Areyan does not know yet. He mentioned that serious work lies ahead
as there are 1258 streets, 4566 blocks of flats, and 31 124 private
houses in the capital.
