MINISTERS OF BOLOGNA PROCESS PARTICIPANT COUNTRIES TO MEET IN LONDON IN 2007

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 20, NOYAN TAPAN. RA Minister of Education and Science
Levon Mkrtchian as well as Ministers of other countries – Georgia,
Moldova and Ukraine – joined the Bergen declaration in May, 2005,
took part in the meeting of the Ministers of Education of the new
member countries of the Bologna process taken place in Strasbourg
on December 12-13. The Azerbaijani delegation was absent because
of being present at the discussion of the law "On Education" at the
Government. According to the information submitted to Noyan Tapan by
the Press Service of the RA Ministry of Education and Science, summing
up of the Bologna process principles, the process of implementation of
the reforms of the higher education sphere, exchange of experience and
preliminary estimation of results of the present stage took place in
Strasbourg. Besides, new programs to be implemented with the Council of
Europe as well as issues relating to development of cooperation with
other countries were discussed. The Ministers signed in Strasbourg
final principles of the meting by which the sides re-affirmed their
readiness to implement the Bologna process principles to build
a European territory of higher education till 2010. According
to it, the Ministers agreed to stregthen in their countries the
structures securing the education quality, stimulating the process
of increase of the education quality, within the framework of the
European all-embracing demands of the higher education, to work out a
national system of qualifications, to study reformation of educational
programs, to pay special attention to the social orientation of the
higher education, guaranteeing its accessibility, to take steps in
the direction of securing activeness of students and professors and
lecturers staff of institutions of higher education. According to the
same source, a meeting of Ministers of all the participant countries
of the process will take place in London in May, 2007.
