SHARP EXPRESSIONS VOICED IN VARDAN MALKHASIAN’S SPEECH ARE QUOTATIONS FROM CLASSICS, ARMEN AGHAYAN SAYS

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 20, NOYAN TAPAN. The sharp expressions voiced
in the speech of the participant of the Consolidation of Armenian
Volunteers organization, Homeland and Honor Party Political Board
member, Vardan Malkhasian at the organization’s first meeting that
seem appeals for armed coup at first sight, indeed are quotations
of various famous authors. Armen Aghayan, Political Secretary of the
Defence of Liberated Territories public initiative, said this at the
December 20 meeting with journalists. In his words, in his speech
V.Malkhasian, in particular, quoted from works of Nzhdeh, Feodor
Dostoyevski, Kristapor Mikayelian, Mikayel Nalbandian. In A.Aghayan’s
affirmation, V.Malkhasian’s speech they try to present as a criminally
chargeable action is merely a "figurative speech." A.Aghayan said that
during the searches that followed the arrests of a number of members
of the organization, the law enforcement bodies not only failed to
discover arms, but even did not look for them being well-aware that the
organization members are not armed. So, calling his partners for not
making distinction between means, V.Malkhasian did not mean arms among
these means. As A.Aghayan affirmed, even the strongest organization
in Armenia cannot accumulate arms and ammunition necessary for armed
coup, especially without being noticed by the authorities. As regards
Zhirayr Sefilian’s speech at the meeting, in A.Aghayan’s words, the
sharpest expression in it is "we will break the heads of those who
will dare to cede lands." But this expression, in his affirmation,
will not be mentioned in the criminal case, as it is not beneficial
for the authorities themselves.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
