STARTING JANUARY 1 2007 RA NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF STANDARDS TO HAVE STATUS OF PARTNER OF EUROPEAN STANDARDIZATION COMMITTEE

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 20, NOYAN TAPAN. Starting January 1, 2007, the RA
National Institute of Standards will have status of a partner of
the European Standardization Committee, Robert Dayan, Head of the
Standardization, Metrology and Conformity Certification Department
of the RA Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, stated during
the December 22 press conference. According to him, this status will
allow the National Institute of Standards to use the European standards
(EN) as national standards instead of the previously used interstate
standards – GOSTs, as well as to have the right to participate in the
work of the technical committees CEN/TC 233 "Biotechnology", CEN/TC
234 "Gas Supply" and CEN/TC 340 "Antiseismic Equipment". Besides, the
institute will participate in activities of the CEN General Assembly
without the right to vote and make use of information services of
the body.
