SUPERVISORY CHAMBER BECOMES INDEPENDENT
Yerevan, December 20. ArmInfo. The Supervisory Chamber of the Armenian
Parliament will become independent.
Armenian Deputy Finance and Economy Minister Suren Karayan says that
the chamber’s independence is stipulated by the Constitution.
In view of this, the executive power has offered to introduce the
relevant changes to the law on supervisory chamber. Now the SC is
empowered to supervise the fulfillment of the state and local budgets
and the use of the credits and grants provided by international
organizations. The SC has the authority to carry out inspections in
enterprises where at least 50% of shares are owned by the state. The
SC is also empowered to supervise bankruptcy procedures and the use
of mineral resources.
