UMBA PRODUCTIVITY AND COMPETITIVENESS CENTER TO PROMOTE FORMATION OF COMPETITIVE ECONOMY IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 20, NOYAN TAPAN. The Productivity and
Competitiveness Center founded on the initiative of the Union of
Manufacturers and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia (UMBA) should
promote the development of the policy of increasing productivity
and competitiveness and the formation of regulating environment in
Armenia. UMBA Chairman Arsen Ghazarian stated this at the December
20 round table dedicated to the center’s opening. In his words,
the center should have functions of a leader in implementing special
programs on productivity promotion and improvement and inoformation
spread. Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Tigran Sargsian said
in his speech that the most efficient way of developing the economy
is productivity growth. According to him, for this purpose the state
should first of all "get rid of non-competitive enterprises". In his
opinion, it is necessary to take steps aimed at training and advice
of skills on productivity improvement, which will make hundreds of
entrepreneurs change their working rules and behavior.
