BERNARD SNOY: REPORT ON ARSONS PRESENTED TO OSCE MEMBER STATES

OSCE mission has presented the report on the results of the monitoring
on arsons committed in the occupied Azerbaijani territories and on
the border with Armenia to OSCE member states, the Co-ordinator of
OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities, Bernard Snoy told the
APA exclusively.

He said that the report on arsons was presented to Belgian Foreign
Minister Karl de Gucht on November 28 last year.

"I presented the report to OSCE Chairman-in-Office last year. Mr.

Karl de Gucht sent the report to UN Secretary General Kofi Annan on
December 19. OSCE Chairman-in-Office asked the UN Secretary General
to inform UN General Assembly about the report," he said.

OSCE Main Office told the APA that the situation of the areas where
arsons were committed in Nagorno Karabakh was mostly reflected in
the report prepared by Bernard Snoy.

A resolution on mass arsons committed in Azerbaijani territories was
adopted in the plenary session of UN general Assembly on September
7 last year. According to the resolution, assessment mission was
established for determining the harm, studying the influence of the
arsons on the environment and conducting ecological operation. The
resolution states that OSCE mission should present the report
until April 30, 2007. The OSCE mission led by the Co-ordinator of
OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities, Bernard Snoy conducted
monitoring in the occupied Azerbaijani territories on October 7-13.
