On January 10 US President George Bush re-nominated Richard Hoagland
as US Ambassador to Armenia. However, for the second time Senator
Robert Menendez placed a `hold’ on his appointment.

US Chargé d’Affaires Anthony Godfrey considers that they will
soon have an Ambassador in Armenia. In response to the journalists’
questions, the latter noted that the answer to the question about US
Ambassador will not be given in Armenia. `President Bush suggested a
candidacy and I think we’ll soon have an Ambassador. I must say that
we have a large team to work on the preparation of elections. Together
with RA Government and civil society we are working on programs that
will help hold free and fair elections,’ said Godfry.

According to him, there is much to do in Armenia and having an
Ambassador in Armenia will endorse the implementation of these
programs.
