BRUSSELS – The Defence Ministry website was hacked this weekend by an
Islamic group which calls itself the "Children of the Ottoman Empire"
in reference to the Armenian genocide of 1915-1917, a genocide still
denied by the Turkish authorities.
The hackers, nationalists and Islamists, took over the Defence Ministry
website Sunday afternoon using its pages to put forward their message;
that they believed that Turkey merely defended itself against the
‘murderous’ Armenians.
The site became inaccessible around 13H30 after having shown an
unusual message: "Hacked by VolTigoRe – Turk Forcers."
Then the defence website was used to broadcast what the hackers called
‘the explanation."
The hackers wrote that the Kurds in Eastern Turkey were not victims
of discrimination and violence from the Turkish police and army,
saying that the Kurdish armed separatist group PKK is a terrorist
organisation that receives support from abroad.
