"The statement of the press secretary of the Armenian general
prosecutor’s office that the principle of competition is violated by
the Appeal Court with Mataghis Case does not meet the reality and,
moreover, is out of the scope of professional ethics," Alina Yengoyan,
press secretary of the Appeal Court, told Panorama.am.
The press secretary said the appeals of the defendants and their
attorneys were accepted at the criminal chamber of the court in
October, 2006 and the appeal complaint of the authorized person of
the victim was accepted on December 19, 2006.
The general prosecutor’s office was informed about that with a notice,
Alina Yengoyan said.
The Appeal Court also says that the prosecutor’s office has been
notified about the time and place of the hearing on the case. The
press secretary believes it’s a structural problem of the prosecutor’s
office the fact that the prosecutors did not appear at the hearing.
