Exhibition Of Armenian Cross Stones To Be Opened In Louvre

EXHIBITION OF ARMENIAN CROSS STONES TO BE OPENED IN LOUVRE

Yerevan, January 24. ArmInfo. Within the framework of Armenia’s Year
in France, an exhibition of Armenian cross-stones (khachkars) will
be opened in the Louvre on February 19, 2007.

Gayane Durgaryan, the press-secretary of the Armenian Ministry of
Culture and Youth, told ArmInfo that, in total, 27 cross- stones will
be exhibited in the Museum. According to G.Durgaryan, the exhibition
will last till May 15. She also noted that the Armenian Government
ensures the security of the cross-stones’ transportation to France.

To remind, the governors of the Ararat, Armavir, Aragatsotn,
Gegharkunik, Kotayk, Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions were to carry out
the organizational work for transporting the Armenian cross-stones
by the end of 2006.
