YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 6, NOYAN TAPAN. Though deputies are prohibited
to be engaged in another job by the Constitution, nevertheless,
Manvel Ghazarian, RA National Assembly RPA faction member, Vedi
Alco company’s former Chairman, will nominate his candidature at
the forthcoming parliamentary elections. As the MP reported at the
February 5 press conference, "he is not engaged in business, but only
tries to give advice for family business the develop." "Certainly, no
matter how much I keep myself away from business world, all the same,
everybody knows that I am a businessman deputy. But I have not come
to the National Assembly for protecting my own interests," M.Ghazarian
said. In the words of Vahram Baghdasarian, NA People’s Deputy faction
member, everybody is convinced that "we go to the parliament for doing
something for ourselves. But one does not go to the parliament in
order to protect his own interests, but for ensuring a good life for
everybody." He also stated that deputies having practical experience
are needed at the parliament. But this, in his words, does not mean
that any businessman not knowing the political alphabet can enter
into the National Assembly. V.Baghdasarian also emphasized that he
will participate in the forthcoming parliamentary elections by the
majoritarian system and as non-partisan.
