YEREVAN MAYOR’S OFFICE TO SIGN AGREEMENTS OF COOPERATION WITH A NUMBER OF CITIES IN 2007

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 6, NOYAN TAPAN. Yerevan Mayor’s Office will
sign cooperation agreements with various cities in 2007. As David
Gevorgian, Head of Foreign Relations Department of Yerevan Mayor’s
Office, reported at the February 5 press conference, in particular,
2008-2010 cooperation agreements will be signed with Mayor’s Offices
of Moscow and Tbilisi. It is also planned to establish cooperation
with Mayor’s Offices of Saint Petersburg, Kazan and Sofia.

D.Gevorgian also stated that Yerevan will be recognized sister
city of Los Angeles in March: this decision will be made by the
Municipal Council of Los Angeles. In his words, Yerevan Mayor’s
Office also tries to establish close contacts with Rio de Janeiro
Mayor’s Office. Currently Yerevan actively cooperates with sister city
Lyons. In particular, five units of sanitary cleaning equipment was
purchased from Lyons at rather low prices and two units were donated
to Yerevan Mayor’s Office. D.Gevorgian also said that Yerevan is a
sister city with 23 and a partner with 31 cities.
