THERE WILL BE MORE WOMEN DEPUTIES AT NEW NATIONAL ASSEMBLY THAN AT PREVIOUS ONE, HERMINE NAGHDALIAN FORECASTS

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 8, NOYAN TAPAN. Today rather many women are
involved in the public sector of Armenia, while their number is
much less in the political sphere. RA National Assembly RPA faction
member Hermine Naghdalian expressed such an opinion at the February
8 press conference. In her words, women themselves should struggle
for becoming a participant to political processes and should do this
"first of all by creating a political biography." And increasing
the number of women artificially in parties’ electoral rolls, which
is envisaged by the amended Electoral Code, in H.Naghdalian’s words,
will give no result. At the same time she said that from one election
to another the Republican Party more and more often nominates women’s
candidatures. As H.Naghdalian forecast, the number of women deputies
will increase at NA after the May 12 elections. She also said that she
will run for the parliamentary elections by RPA’s list. Touching upon
holding the elections freely and fairly, H.Naghdalian assured that for
holding really democratic elections RPA "will do its best." The MP also
advised to do the same to everybody, both to politicians and to press.
