HOVHANNES IGITIAN CONSIDERS MOST PROBABLE ANM’S PARTICIPATION IN ELECTIONS
IN A BLOC
YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 9, NOYAN TAPAN. In all probability, the Armenian
National Movement (ANM) party will run for the elections in a bloc. ANM
Board member Hovhannes Igitian reported this at the February 9 meeting
with journalists. In his words, ANM negotiates with Hanrapetutiun
(Republic), Liberal-Progressive and a number of other parties for
the purpose of making alliance. "We do not want to make a coalition
with oligarch forces, though this is tempting and many parties take
this step," H.Igitian said mentioning that the forces cooperating
with them "should be decent." According to the observation of ANM
Board member, today Armenia lacks preelection situation peculiar
to civilized countries, in which "the decisive factor is political
dispute." Instead, in H.
Igitian’s words, an "artificial political atmosphere was formed"
when in order to be authoritative and respective a politician should
have an expensive foreign car, bodyguards and a deputy mandate. In
his words, some forces acting in the power field seeded the thought
in people’s consciousness that all parties without exception pursue
a personal goal by participating in elections.
Under such conditions, as H.Igitian affirmed, for ANM it will be too
difficult to explain to the people that they go to the parliament
for the purpose of implementing some programs.
