200 EXCLUSIVE EXHIBITS RELATING TO ARMENIAN CHRISTIAN CULTURE TO BE
PRESENTED AT "SAINT ARMENIA" EXHIBITION IN LOUVRE
YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 16, NOYAN TAPAN. 200 exclusive and symbolic exhibits
given from depositories of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin treasure
house, History Museum of Armenia and M.Mashtots Matenadaran (repository
of ancient manuscripts) will be presented in the Louvre museum of
Paris, at the exhibition entitled "Saint Armenia" to open on February
17. Vigen Sargsian, the RA President’s Advisor, Coordinator of the
events dedicated to the Year of Armenia in France, stated about it at
the February 16 press conference, mentioning that peculiarities of the
Armenian Christian Culture will be summed up by this. V.Sargsian stated
that more than 30 Armenian khachkars (cross stones) will for the first
time be exhibited in Louvre. He also mentioned that those khachkars are
already moved, that’s, khachkars, removed from their initial places
which are kept in different churches and museums. The exhibition of the
chronological department of six, 4th-18th centuries, will last in
Louvre till May 15. "It is an exclusive possibility to present the
Armenian culture abroad with such a wide-spread spector," he is sure.
V.Sargsian facted that if 8.5 mln people annually visit Louvre, about 2
mln visitors will see this exhibition during 3 months. In V.Sargsian’s
words, only 600 official events will be implemented in 100 cities of
France during the year. Besides, proposals of numerous new events were
presented on the occasion of the year. They will have an official
format. V.Sargsian also stated that besides cultural events, economic,
scientific conferences, forums will be implemented during the year.
