Turkey does not have the necessary range of concessions to offer in
exchange for not passing the bill on the Armenian Genocide in the US
House of Representatives.
If Turkey is ready for some concessions it should publicize them,
Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly Vahan Hovhannissian stated
replying to a question by an ArmInfo reporter.
Commenting on the opportunities for normalization of the
Armenian-Turkish relations in exchange for freezing the bill on the
Armenian Genocide in the US House of Representatives Hovhannissian
stated, "Turkey is putting forward preconditions for establishing
diplomatic relations between Armenia and Turkey and these preconditions
are unacceptable for the Armenian side.
If Turkey intends to put these preconditions aside, it should publicly
state so. After all, it is the US parliament and not the Armenian
one that is passing a bill on the Armenian Genocide, in other words,
we are not to decide on this matter. It is the Congressmen that will
have to decide whether it is sufficient for Turkey to put aside its
preconditions," Hovhannissian stated.
