SEUA ENVISAGES TO GET GRANT FROM WB TO WIDEN PROCESS OF INTRODUCTION
OF CREDIT SYSTEM FOR ESTIMATION OF KNOWLEDGE

YEREVAN, MARCH 16, NOYAN TAPAN. The main components of the credit
(gathering and passing of academic credits) system for estimation of
knowledge were introduced in the bachelor’s system of the State
Economic University of Armenia (SEUA) in the 2006-2007 academic
year. As Yuri Suvarian, the SEUA Rector informed the Noyan Tapan
correspondent, the process of introduction of that system in the
higher educational institution meet with approval of the World Bank
(WB) experts, and it is envisaged that the SEUA will be involved in
the WB grant program to more widen some components of the system to
make it more complete.

In his words, another important component of that system, "selected
courses," will be used in the SEUA in the next academic year, and the
2nd year and high courses students of the bachelor’s system will have
possibility of choice of a course and lecturer.

Yu. Suvarian attached importance to creation of the university
consortium in the republic what will give possibility to use another
component of the credit system, students’ "moveability" among higher
educational institutions (also abroad) when a student will have
possibility to gather credits in the institution of higher education
he prefers.

"This problem can not be solved only within the framework of one
institution of higher education: when all state institutions of higher
education will completely use the credit system, we shall cooperate
and implement that program as well," the SEAU Rector mentioned.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
