NZP TO CONDUCT ACTIVE AND AGGRESSIVE PROPAGANDA, PARTY CHAIRMAN STATES
YEREVAN, MARCH 19, NOYAN TAPAN. The Armenian authorities will
unequivocally falsify the forthcoming parliamentary elections. Aram
Karapetian, Chairman of Nor Zhamanakner (New Times) Party, stated this
at the March 19 press conference. In his words, the only new thing
expected in comparison with the former elections can be the struggle
to take place among pro-governmental parties during "drawing" of
voting results at CEC.
In A. Karapetian’s words, the authorities have charged Passport and
Visa Department of RA Police to "raise" the number of electors for May
12 parliamentary elections up to 1 mln 700 thousand. In his words, so,
5% barrier will be raised to 85 thousand people and many parties
cannot overcome it.
In A. Karapetian’s words, they do not expect influence of foreign
forces in the issue of holding free and fair elections. "But in the
future, when the label if illegitimacy is attached, each one will come
to take his share," he mentioned.
The Chairman of Nor Zhamanakner Party gave assurance that the only way
to change the situation in the country is people’s movement. In
A. Karapetian’s words, if many people take to the streets during the
parliamentary elections, the process of power shift will be
completed. However, in his words, it is more probable that this will
take place on the eve of the 2008 presidential elections.
In A. Karapetian’s words, NZP is going to conduct "active and
aggressive preelectoral propaganda." In his words, the party will
present the illegal actions of the authorities taking as a basis real
facts and "calling things by their proper names."
