WORLD CONFEDERATION OF TURKISH UNIONS TO BE CREATED AS A
COUNTERBALANCE TO ORGANIZATIONS OF ARMENIAN DIASPORA
ANKARA, MARCH 27, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. Mehmed Azeriturk,
Secretary General of Federation of Turkish-Azerbaijani Organizations,
stated that organizations of Turkish-Azerbaijani diasporas decided to
create a world coordinating body, World Confederation of Turkish
Unions, which will regulate the activity of Azerbaijani and Turkish
non-governmental organizations.
"Armenians are able to make the whole world admit and recognize the
groundless assertions, which took place 95 years ago, while the
Turkish world comes across difficulties in the issue of counteracting
to assertions about Armenian Genocide in the international arena," he
stated in his interview to Zaman Turkish newspaper.
Azeriturk mentioned that the activity of that structure will extend in
the future and offices will open in U.S., Canada, France, Russia,
Australia and all Turkish colonies of foreign countries. In his words,
the Confederation’s Center will be in New York and all organizations
of Turkish world may join it.
Among the first and foremost problems of the organization are the
Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Cyprus conflict and the problem of
Meskhetian Turks.
To recap, Conference of Turkish-Azerbaijani Diasporan Organizations
took place on March 9 in Baku with participation of Turkish Prime
Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of self-proclaimed Republic
of North Cyprus Mehmed Ali Talat and Azerbaijani President Ilham
Aliyev. A decision to extend cooperation of Turkish-Azerbaijani
organizations at the world level and to counteract to the intensive
activity of Armenian Diaspora was made at the conference.
