"The Turkish initiative of restoring St. Cross Church of Aghtamar
aims to affect the international public opinion and neutralize the
international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide,"
Haik Demoyan, Genocide museum head, released a statement today.

In his opinion, it is doubtful that one of the Armenian temples is
restored whereas the other, Arakelots church of Kars, has turned into
a mosque.

"I hope that the Turkish government will express a more serious
attitude to the Armenian cultural heritage in the areas which were
abandoned by Armenians because of the genocide and will not turn such
events into an obvious propaganda acts," Demoyan says.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
