APRIL 24 SQUARE OPENS IN CITY OF CLICHY-LA-GARENNE, FRANCE

CLICHY-LA-GARENNE, APRIL 17, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. April 24
square dedicated to the memory of the 1915 Armenian Genocide victims
opened in the center of the city of Clichy-la-Garenne, France,
on April 15. Mayor Gilles Catoire and Ambassador of Armenia Eduard
Nalbandian carried out the opening.

As Noyan Tapan was informed by the RA Foreign Ministry’s Press and
Information Department, representatives of the Hauts-de-Seine state
authorities, heads of French Armenian organizations, hundreds of
inhabitants of the city were present at the solemn ceremony.

Expressing gratitude to the city authorities of Clichy-la-Garenne on
the occasion of opening April 24 square, Ambassador of Armenia Eduard
Nalbandian mentioned that mentioning of the Armenian Genocide victims
is not only a tribute of respect and solidary to the Armenian people
but also a call of vigilance to the whole mankind for everywhere a
uncompromising struggle is led against repetition of similar crimes.

"Unfair substitution and denial of the history what has become evil
of our times is also continuation of the crime against the mankind,"
the Ambassador said.

An exhibition entitled "1915-2005: The First Genocide of the 20th
Century" opened at the War Veterans’ Museum of Clichy-la-Garenne on
the same day.
