AMERICAN LAWYER: "TURKEY GOVERNMENT SHOULD APPEAL TO INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE"
Today, Azerbaijan
April 17 2007
The Assembly of American Turkish Associations (ATAA) organized a
conference to expose the claims on so-called "Armenian genocide"
in New-York.
Deputy Chief of ATAA Washington office, Gunay Evinj and prominent
American lawyer Bruce Fein made statements in the conference.
Mr. Evinj considered it important for Turkish government appeal
to International Court of Justice to refrain from making claims on
so-called Armenian genocide.
He noted that 150,000 Turks were murdered during the revolt staged
by over 40 Armenians in the territory where the ‘genocide’ is claimed
to occur in 1820-1920. The lawyer reminded that local Armenians that
did not join Armenian nationalists did not face any problems during
1915-1923.
The Turkish lawyer supported the idea of establishing Turkish-Armenian
commission that will quote not policy, but law and history.
At the end of the conference a film "Armenian revolt" was demonstrated,
APA reports.
