YEREVAN, APRIL 18, NOYAN TAPAN. "The Nagorno Karabakh people did not
give a mandate for solution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict either to
Robert Kocharian or to Ilham Aliyev." Political scientist Alexander
Manasian stated this at the April 18 discussion at the Hayeli
(Mirror) club.

In his words, the circumstance that representatives of NKR do not take
part in the negotiations on settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict
is violation of decision of OSCE Minsk Group, according to which
representatives of Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan should
take part in the negotiations.

Another representative of the discussion, member of Board of Armenian
National Movement Hovhannes Igitian, mentioned that "if Nagorno
Karabakh continues to be forced out of the negotiations process,
opinion about Armenia as a country, which occupied Azerbaijani
territories, will strike a root at international instances." In
his words, this opinion contributed to formation of opinion in
international organizations that struggle for Nagorno Karabakh goes on
between Armenia and Azerbaijan when self-determination of NKR people
is spoken about.

Both participants held the same opinion about the necessity to
hold fair elections in Armenia, which will contribute not only to
development of democratic processes in the country, but also will
have a favorable impact on solution of Nagorno Karabakh problem in
favor of Armenia as a more democratic state than Azerbaijan.

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
