YEREVAN, APRIL 18, ARMENPRESS: Under a recently inked Armenian-Greek
intergovernmental agreement, the government of Armenia will provide a
building for a food safety laboratory while Greek businessmen will make
donations to equip it with state-of-the-art devices and technique. The
Greek side will also help build in Armenia two modern butcheries.
An official of the Armenian agriculture ministry said the new food
safety laboratory will also organize training courses for specialists.
There is a range of food safety laboratories in Armenia, but they
examine only finished products. The new laboratory will examine the
ingredients of meat and dairy products, fruits and vegetables.
The ministry already has a food safety department which supervises
the work of all food safety labs around the country.
