YEREVAN, APRIL 18, NOYAN TAPAN. News agencies reported that during a
meeting with ambassadors of the League of Arab States, the Armenian
president Robert Kocharian said that development of the situation in
Iraq shows that the initial plans did not turn out to be justified and
no simple solutions can be used in this country quite complex by its
structure. The Armenian president noted that the Iraqi issue should
be solved by stage-by-stage reduction of the foreign military presence
in Irag, establishment of a dialog among various ethnic groups within
the country and involvement of interested countries in the process
of peaceful settlement of the situation in Iraq. Robert Kocharian
pointed out the necesity of parallel implementation of these processes.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
