YEREVAN, APRIL 30, NOYAN TAPAN. "The Democratic Party of Armenia will
certainly pass the 5 percent threshold at the upcoming parliamentary
elections – we will receive 100 thousand votes," DPA Chairman Aram
Sargsian stated at the April 30 press conference.
As for the pre-election process, Aram Sargsian expressed his concern
over passport data collection, which is psychological pressure
specially put on voters. He noted that village heads received
instructions, according to which they may be dismissed from their jobs
unless they secure the specified number of votes for progovernment
parties.
At the same time, he stated that there will be no riggings in case
of proper control.
According to A. Sargsian, DPA proposed European and CIS observers
implementing constant control at 10-12 polling stations of an electoral
district, which will allow to compare the results at these polling
stations with results of neighboring ones and to see if the results
at the polling stations not under control are similar or not.
