NAGORNYY KARABAKH REPUBLIC OFFICIAL DENIES AZERI FLIGHTS OVER KARABAKH

Stepanakert, 30 April: The Baku media have been recently talking about
training flights of Azerbaijani aircraft not far from the border of the
Nagornyy Karabakh republic [NKR]. Azerbaijani official sources say that
their military aircraft can allegedly carry out manoeuvre flights at
any time over the territory under the control of the NKR defence army.
An Arminfo correspondent in Stepanakert quoted the chief of the
air defence troops of the defence army, Col Aleksandr Gasparyan, as
saying that these statements are a lie and that this is Azerbaijan’s
wishful thinking.
"These fabrications do not reflect reality. As to the combat capability
of Nagornyy Karabakh’s air defence troops and their readiness to
respond adequately to the enemy, we demonstrated this superbly
during the war, when we had more meagre technical and professional
resources. The fact that in international exercises held over the past
years, the NKR air defence troops have demonstrated their superiority
over other countries, including Azerbaijan, already shows the level of
our capability. Finally, an undeniable proof of this is our country’s
peaceful sky. Any attempt to disturb peace will mean undesirable
consequences for the enemy," Gasparyan said.
The command of the NKR air defence troops noted that the crews of
the air defence system that are on military duty closely watch every
flight by the enemy’s air force (at a distance of 30-35 km from the NKR
border) and that they are always ready to take appropriate measures.
