YEREVAN, APRIL 30, NOYAN TAPAN. Although sociological survey results
show that the National-Democratic Party (NDP) will not pass the 5%
threshold, the party claims that it will do so. Stating this at the
April 30 press conference, NDP chairman, NA deputy Shavarsh Kocharian
noted that after contacts with voters it becomes clear that thier
party’s rating is quite high.

According to him, the main shortcoming of the election campaign is that
political forces with great financial capacities have advantages. In
his words, the election campaign takes considerable money, which
NDP lacks. But the party tries to use direct contacts with voters in
order to make up for the lack of posters and offices.

"I think that we should use idea, program, biography to oppose power
and money. If we try to struggle with the authorities in the same
field, we’ll lose," S. Kocharian is convinced.

He said tht the number of deputies on the NDP proportional list is
more than half the number of the National Assembly deputies, which
cannot be said about the lists of many other parties having claims
for majority in the future parliament.
