BROCHURE "TO FORM IN THE NAME OF SOCIETY. BEST, MEDIUM AND UNFAVORABLE COMBINATION OF ELECTION SYSTEMS AND GENDER QUOTAS" PUBLISHED IN ARMENIAN

YEREVAN, MAY 2, NOYAN TAPAN. On the initiative of the International
Institute for Democaracy and Election Assistance (IDEA) Armenia Office,
the brochure "To Form in the Name of Society. The Best, Medium and
Unfavorable Combinations of Election Systems and Gender Quotas"
was published in Armneian.
According to the press release submitted to NT, the book presents
various types of election systems and quotas, "whose combination may be
conducive to an increase of women’s representation in parliament." "In
January 2007, the representation of women reached 30+ percent in
parliaments of only 19 countries," the press release reads.
To recap, in 2006 the RA Central Election Commission (CEC) and
International IDEA signed a mutual understanding agreement, under
which International IDEA Armenia Office is implementing the program on
stable democratic development of Armenia, improvement of the election
administration’s skills and encouragement of political participation
until 2008. The program’s total budget makes about 385 thousand euros.
