SEYRAN OHANIAN ACCEPTS PROPOSAL TO TAKE OFFICE OF HEAD OF GENERAL HEADQUARTERS OF RA ARMED FORCES

STEPANAKERT, MAY 2, NOYAN TAPAN. "Yes, I have received a proposal to
be appointed to the post of Head of General Headquarters of RA Armed
Forces and have already given my consent," NKR Defence Minister Seyran
Ohanian stated at the May 2 press conference. He said that on that
post also his main goal will be to protect the Armenian people. In
response to the question, who will take Minister’s office, S. Ohanian
said that no decision has been made yet and the consultations continue.

Touching upon the situation on Karabakh-Azerbaijan contact-line, he
said that in the whole period after the cease-fire it is periodically
violated by shots. In response to Karabakh Open’s question, why in the
latest period Azerbaijani media so intensively write about violation
of cease-fire, the Minister said: "Lately we have lost two officers as
a result of work of snipers of Azerbaijani side. An adequate answer
was given to the actions of the enemy. Some shots happen at present,
but currently we dictate conditions."
