The State Committee on POWs, Hostages and MIAs of Armenia has refuted
the Azeri mass media reports that Azeri POW Samir Mamedov wants to
go to a third country.
The head of the Committee’s working group Armen Kapriyelyan says that
Mamedov has not expressed such an intention.
To remind, Mamedov gave himself up to the Armenian side in late Dec
2006. He refuses to go back to Azerbaijan. He says that in the Azeri
army he was persecuted and beaten by his commanders and omrades. A
few days ago, Azeri media reported the head of the working group of
the State Committee on POWs, Hostages and MIAs of Azerbaijan Firuddin
Sadykhov as saying that Mamedov wanted to go to a third country. They
said that the Azeri side had got that information from ICRC.
