ISTANBUL, MAY 3, NOYAN TAPAN – ARMENIANS TODAY. The 14th criminal
court of Istanbul did not accept the bill of indictment prepared by
prosecutors on the case of murder of Hrant Dink, editor-in-chief of
the weekly "Akos". The 30-page indictment demanded that punishment
should be meted out for 18 accused persons on charge of creating a
"terrorist organization". The court explained that "the facts about
the creation of a terrorist organization by the accused persons and
their joining it are not sufficient."

However, prosecutors Selim Berna Altay and Fikret Secen disputed
the court decision in the 9th criminal court that sent the bill of
indictment to the 14th criminal court.

Fethiye Cetin, lawyer of the Dinks, stated that the court procedure
is considered as started from the moment of accepting the bill of
indictment: "Since this moment, it has started."

“I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
