Son of emigrant from Hungary elected new president of France

A son of the emigrant from Hungary, the former Minister of Internal
Affairs of France Nicolas Sarkozy has been elected a new President of
France.
In second round of the presidential election, 53,06% of electors voted
for Nicolas Sarkozy, RBC reports. According to the information of the
world news agencies, the rival of Sarkozy, Segalen Royal, received
46,94% of votes. Total of 37 mln 342 thsd 518 people out of 44 mln 472
thsd 198 registered voters participated in the election. The official
ceremony of power transfer by the present French President Jacques
Chirac to the new one will be held after the inauguration of Nicolas
Sarkozy.
To recall, N. Sarkozy advocates the adoption of the Law on criminal
liability for denial of the Armenian Genocide. He stands up against
Turkey’s joining the European Union and supports the improvement of
relations with the USA.
