FORTY NEW BUSES START TRANSPORTING PASSENGERS IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, MAY 8, ARMENPRESS: Today 40 more Ukraine-made Bogdan buses
began to transport passengers in the capital city Yerevan and now
there are 240 such buses running in the city. These forty buses will be
transporting passengers from and to Avan, Nor Nork, Noragavit suburbs.
Yerevan authorities promise to launch very soon a big bus for disabled
people. Yerevan mayor Yervand Zakharian told reporters today that
100 more buses and 20 trolley-buses will be bought this year.
He also said some 700 mini-buses, which are still the main commuter
transporting means in Yerevan creating chaos on roads, will be
withdrawn this year.
The authorities plan to have 500 passenger buses in the city and to
reduce the number of mini-buses from 3,300 now to 1,800.
